Maine Craft Weekend

Discover Maine through its Makers

Games We Play

Falmouth, Maine — We are thrilled to share that Yakisugi Studios will be taking part in Maine Craft Weekend this year! It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet in person, experience the art up close, and celebrate Maine’s vibrant creative community.

What Is Maine Craft Weekend?

Maine Craft Weekend is an annual statewide event that spotlights local artisans, makers, and creative businesses across the Maine region. Participants open their studios, host pop-ups, and offer workshops or demonstrations. It’s a time for makers to connect directly with the public, share stories behind their work, and inspire community engagement with craft. (Learn more about the event on the official site.)

Whether you’re a lifelong art lover or simply curious to see what Maine makers are doing, it’s an ideal time to explore, shop, and engage with creators across the state.

About Cinnamon Brûlée

Cinnamon Brûlée is a fire artist and empowerment coach whose work blends traditional techniques with contemporary vision. Through the yakisugi (charred wood) process, Cinnamon hand-burns and chars wood surfaces to create a modern reinterpretation of a time-honored technique.

More than just the art of wood burning, Mx. Brûlée’s practice intersects with neuroscience, art therapy, and personal transformation. The work is deeply symbolic — exploring resilience, harnessing the power of emotions, and the balance between vulnerability and strength.

Studio Location: Falmouth, Maine.
Art Therapy Office: Portland, Maine.
Regional Makerspace: Boston, Massachusetts.
Inception Point: Black Rock City, Nevada.

What to Expect at Our Exhibit / Demonstration

During Maine Craft Weekend, visitors to Yakisugi Studio can look forward to:

  • Live char burning demonstrations — See the yakisugi process in action, with charring, contrast, and texture developing before your eyes.

  • Finished works on display — From wall art to sculptural pieces, come see how the burnt surfaces transform light and form.

  • Conversations & storytelling — Learn about the meaning behind the work: how fire, protection, decay, and rebirth thread through each piece.

  • Behind-the-scenes insight — Ask questions about materials, process, safety, and the intersection of artistry with mindset and healing.

  • Special limited pieces or commissions — There may be exclusive works available only during the event, or opportunities to discuss custom commissions in person.

We hope attendees will leave not only inspired by the visual contrasts but also curious about how art can open us to reflection, resilience, and transformation.

  • Talk directly with the artist. Engage with Cinnamon Brûlée, ask your burning-questions (pun intended), and hear the stories behind individual pieces.

  • Support Maine makers. Every visit, purchase, or shared story helps sustain a vibrant Creative Economy in our home state.

  • Inspiration & reflection. Whether you make art yourself or just appreciate it, witnessing the transformation of wood under fire can provoke insight, metaphor, and wonder.
